Dragons and firecrackers for the year of the ox
February 27th, 2009Have been meaning to upload this picture. On the day of Chinese new year we went to Footscray. The streets were quiet with most businesses closed for the day, but a team disseminating firecrackers was loose in the streets. They went from shop to shop frighting the crap out of small children. The dragons and explosions were very impressive. E put her fingers in her ears. We ate at Hien Vuong, the smoke was so thick we could hardly breath. Was much fun.

It sounds like you are enjoying the sights and tastes of Footscray, I have lived here for 5 years and enjoy the food, the people and the shopping. It is a great community that cops a lot of flak, well we don’t care because we don’t want everyone over here, that is what makes the place great. But considering you have been enjoying the local cuisine I would suggest you venture into the Hub Arcade off Nicholson St. Inside you will find a very small Somalian eatery that serves the tastiest Samosa you have ever eaten. “Enjoy”
